URINARY tract infections

Male bladder infections (cystitis in men)  http://ezinearticles.com/?Male-Bladder-Infections&id=302437
"Factors that increase bladder infections in elderly men are the absence of circumcision and urinary catheterization...
Keep the genital area clean, wipe from front to back, urinate after sexual intercourse, avoid fluids that contain alcohol and caffeine; drink cranberry juice daily, and wear (loose) cotton undergarments. One of the important preventive measures is to drink plenty of water. Urinate when needed, do not try to hold up urine in the bladder, and take care to empty the bladder by double voiding...  Garlic, goldenseal, and bearberry are some of the herbal remedies suggested to kill bacteria."
The increase of water plus cranberry juice or cranberries may help reduce urinary tract infections per The Prevention Total Health System - Aging Slowly by Rodale www.amazon.com
Wright, Dr Jonathan in his joint venture with Bio-Tech to provide d-Mannose supplements states that a good source of d-mannose simple sugar is cranberries and pineapple (such as juice).  (When possible eat/juice raw organic foods.)
However, to combat yeast, vaginal and bladder infections plus kidney problems, one needs 1/2-1 tsp equivalent to l gram of d-mannose often every 3-4 hours when awake (1/4-1/2 tsp for children).  Recommendation is to take as a powder in liquids.  It is very effective in eliminating "excessive" good/friendly E (Escherichia) coli + bad mutant/unfriendly/unnormal E coli.
